Prominent or protruding ears can be one of the most noticeable features on the face and otoplasty is designed to bring the ears closer to the head. This can be a significant source of self-consciousness for patients. A lot of times, they'll wear certain hairstyles to hide their ears or they may avoid certain hairstyles altogether. The most common group of patients that we perform this procedure on is children and it's usually done around age four to six before they go to school and can potentially be bullied because of their prominent ears. An otoplasty is a very rewarding procedure, both for surgeon and for patient.
