Top 3 Benefits of Visiting Our Hair Loss Specialists
Professional Diagnosis
In order to determine whether a restoration procedure is right for you, Dr. Raymond J. Konior or Dr. Sahar Nadimi will first identify the cause of hair loss by performing a professional evaluation. As a part of your exam, we may perform laboratory blood tests, scalp biopsies, and a full medical history evaluation to precisely determine the cause of your hair loss and whether the condition can be corrected with surgical methods.
Carefully Planned Procedure
We never recommend surgery unless it can treat your unique condition. We also want to ensure that your results meet your expectations, so we work closely with you to discuss your goals and determine whether they can be met with surgery. In order to offer the safest, most effective solutions, we have undergone advanced training and work with internationally renowned experts in the field.
Life-Changing Results
A full head of healthy hair can dramatically transform your look, helping you feel more feminine and more beautiful. Because we carefully screen every candidate at our Chicago practice, we can accurately predict great results. Most times, the results of good female candidates rival those of men. What to Expect During the Treatment Process
According to an article released by Harvard Health Publishing, one-third of all women will experience alopecia (hair loss) at some point in their lifetime. Because female pattern baldness is considered less socially acceptable than it is in men, the condition can bring about strong feelings of self-consciousness.
Our medical team in Chicago offers surgical solutions to female pattern hair loss, which typically generate more reliable, permanent results than over-the-counter treatments like minoxidil (Rogaine®). During our transplant procedures, we take healthy hair follicles from another area of the scalp that is not affected by female pattern baldness and carefully transplant the hair follicles into the areas of concern. Treatments are typically performed over several sessions to ensure your comfort.
Determining the Cause & Finding a Solution
Understanding Hair Shedding vs. Hair Loss
Hair Shedding
It is completely natural to shed anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs each day. Sometimes, women will begin to shed more than average and believe they are experiencing hair loss. However, in many cases, the excess shedding will subside on its own in time.
Excessive shedding can occur after giving birth, losing more than 20 pounds, suffering from stress, and more. It can be difficult to determine the cause of excessive shedding because the shedding itself sometimes does not appear until months after the inciting incident. Hair shedding typically stops within six to nine months after the cause is resolved.
Hair Loss
Hair loss, or alopecia, is defined by the physical inability to grow hair. This is different from shedding and requires medical intervention.
True hair loss can emerge seemingly out of nowhere and be extremely pronounced. The first sign is typically a widening part or a thinner ponytail. A gradually receding hairline is also an indicator. Other signs of sudden hair loss include bald areas appearing within just a day or two or masses of hair falling out when you brush. Hair loss may also be occurring if you notice missing hair in other parts of the body, like your eyebrows or nasal hairs.

Our Results Speak For Themselves
Our Unique Approach Ensures Comfort & Beautiful Results
Before we begin each procedure, we will apply a gentle local anesthetic to your scalp to ensure that you do not feel any discomfort during treatment. While some patients experience some discomfort or tightness while healing from surgery, these side effects can typically be relieved with over-the-counter medication.
Dr. Konior and Dr. Nadimi are familiar with the intricate patterns in which hair grows from the scalp. They both combine a keen eye for detail with a specialized skillset to carefully place each hair follicle in a position where it will look natural and provide effective coverage.
Every staff member at the Chicago Hair Institute has an in-depth understanding of how women's appearances should look in comparison to men's, which allows us to produce incredibly natural-looking results.
Our Chicago Practice Welcomes Patients From Around the World
Drs. Konior and Nadimi have earned their reputations as leading hair restoration specialists. Patients regularly visit from around the country and the globe to seek treatment with them. If you're visiting from out of town, we will go above and beyond to make your experience as easy and stress-free as possible.
Surgery vs. Over-the-Counter Treatment
One of the most popular and widely used treatments for hair loss is minoxidil (widely marketed as Rogaine). Minoxidil can often slow the effects of alopecia, but it typically does not restore hair that has already been lost. Meanwhile, minoxidil is not an effective treatment option if you have already lost hair or have scarring. For many patients suffering from hair loss, surgery is generally the surest way to cover bald spots across the scalp. However, rest assured that we will never recommend surgery unless we are certain that a non-surgical solution cannot help you achieve your goals.
Let Us Find the Right Solution for You
With more than 30 years of experience helping patients from Chicago and beyond enhance their appearance and self-confidence, Dr. Konior is qualified to find the best solution for your needs.
Dr. Sahar Nadimi is one of the few female surgeons who is board-certified in both hair restoration and facial plastic surgery. Forehead reduction surgery is her specialty.

"Would highly recommend this clinic to anyone" This Patient Traveled to Chicago to Work With Dr. Nadimi
I give the highest marks possible to Dr. Sahar Nadimi and her staff. I'm from out of state and found the Chicago Hair Institute during a Google search, and I'm glad I did. Dr. Nadimi is a very skilled surgeon, and I found her communication skills before, during, and after surgery, to be of the highest order. The surgery I received was an FUT hair restoration, mainly of the front hairline, to cover an old scar, along with a few additional grafts in the crown region. My experience at the Chicago Hair Institute Clinic was A+++, and I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone. Thank you. A. J., 5-Star Google Review
Not All Women Are Candidates for Surgery
Women with diffuse or progressive hair loss patterns are considered risky candidates for surgery. Unlike male pattern baldness, which has a well-recognized genetic basis, diffuse female hair pattern loss is much more complicated and can have many causes.
Although some in this category make reasonable surgical candidates, the majority of those with a diffuse hair loss pattern cannot benefit from surgical intervention. Diffuse patterns often extend into the donor region and deplete the very reserves that are needed for restoration.
Therefore, proper diagnosis is necessary for women with diffuse loss in order to prevent unwarranted surgery and maximize the benefits of non-surgical therapy.
Alopecia Areata Is a Disqualifying Factor
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease that causes male and female pattern hair loss. It's different from traction alopecia or androgenetic alopecia, which is often a result of post-menopausal hormone changes. Unfortunately, patients with alopecia areata very rarely see success from hair restoration surgery, although treatment with corticosteroids or minoxidil can be effective. No matter the cause of your hair loss, our doctors will be here to help you find a solution.
"It will be the best thing you've ever done."
