Follicular Unit Extraction: Hair Transplant Costs and Financing
Modern hair restoration is more effective than ever, with millions of men and women having achieved full heads of their own hair rather than submitting to the throes of baldness. With such advanced techniques as follicular unit extraction (FUE) available, hair transplant surgery has become extremely predictable in its outcome, with the vast majority of patients emerging from surgery with natural-looking results that make them look younger and more attractive.
Of course, the quality of a patient’s hair restoration results depend not only on the technique and technology used, but also on the skill, experience, and artistic eye of the surgeon performing the procedure. Dr. Raymond Konior has been producing hair restoration results of the highest standard for more than 25 years. As a true master of his craft, he refuses to cut corners or in any way compromise the quality of the care he provides. While he strives to offer competitive pricing, he understands that some patients might find it difficult to afford premium quality hair restoration out of pocket. For this reason, he offers a variety of payment and financing options designed to put hair restoration using the FUE method within the budgets of as many patients as possible.
During consultations between Dr. Konior and his patients at his state-of-the-art practice in Chicago, follicular unit extraction costs and financing are discussed in detail. The only way to know for certain what your procedure will cost and what your financing options are is to meet with Dr. Konior for a one-on-one, confidential consultation.
FUE Costs
Follicular unit extraction is a painstaking method of hair restoration, but it yields outstandingly natural-looking results. Unlike the follicular unit transplantation (FUT) method, FUE does not require the surgical excision of a strip of scalp from the donor area. Dr. Konior can therefore harvest hair from nearly any viable region of the body, including the chest, the beard area, and the back of the scalp.
Because FUE is a more intensive procedure than FUT, it is also more expensive. The exact cost of the procedure can vary substantially from patient to patient, as Dr. Konior charges by the graft. Therefore, a patient who requires 1,500 grafts in a single session will pay less for his or her procedure than a patient who requires 3,000 grafts.
The total cost of FUE surgery will also cover the facility fee, Dr. Konior’s fee, the payment owed to the surgical personnel, post-operative appointments, and any other fees agreed upon by you and Dr. Konior prior to your surgery.
Financing Options
In the vast majority of cases, hair transplantation is considered a purely cosmetic procedure and is therefore not eligible for coverage under conventional insurance plans. Therefore, the patient is solely responsible for payment. Fortunately, financing is available and can help patients to break the cost of their procedures down into manageable monthly chunks.
At Chicago Hair Institute, patients can finance their procedures through CareCredit® or Springstone Patient Financing. Both options offer patients the opportunity to pay for their FUE surgery up front and then make payments each month to the financing company. While there are advantages and disadvantages to covering the costs of hair restoration by borrowing from a third-party lender, it is an option that allows millions of people each year to undergo the elective healthcare procedures they desire.
